February is National Children’s Dental Health Month

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month highlighting the important role of early dental care in children’s overall health. Developing good habits at an early age and making regular dental visits helps get a good start on healthy teeth and gums. We had our very own Dr. Bill Ten Pas DMD talk about children’s dental care in the video below.

ODS also has a partnership along with the OEA Choice Trust for the Tooth Taxi which is a statewide program to help over 3,000 school children each year and provide close to one million dollars in free dental care annually. The Tooth taxi is a state-of-the-art dental office on wheels in response to the growing oral health crisis in Oregon. Since the Tooth Taxi launched in late fall 2008 we have visited all over the State of Oregon, and served over 8,000 children while delivering $2,138,272 in donated dental services.
