Fall Exercise Ideas – 25 Ways to Have Fun!

The Northwest is great because there are so many healthy activities that go on rain or shine. As it gets cold, I understand that it is tempting to sit inside with little activity but this is a perfect opportunity to redefine exercise. Sure you could run on the treadmill or join a gym but there is so much more you can do! Look into local activities like a walk or run for charity or check out these alternative ideas and let me know what you think. I had fun making the list!

1. Go for a walk around the neighborhood to see harvest decorations.

2. Make your morning walk indoors in the mall. Window shop while you are at it.

4. Take a walk with your family after a meal.

5. Use the stairs for an entire month. Read More

ODS Health has also taken a stand against childhood obesity by becoming a partner of We Can!™ (Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity and Nutrition). Read More

Take the Bike Commute Challenge this September!

Well, today is a record day. I rode my bike to work! Does this mean that I am now a true Portlander? I have several coworkers that ride to work from my neighborhood and today I decided to join in. This is just in time for the September Bike Commute Challenge. Just like me to start something new then go full throttle. Perhaps you and/or your company should participate in the Bike Commute Challenge too!

Each year in September the Bicycle Transportation Alliance offers commuters in Oregon and SW Washington a chance to take the Bike Commute Challenge (BCC).  Join the friendly competition – workplace against workplace – to see who can bike to work more during the month of September. The workplaces with the highest percentage of commutes by bicycle during the month win!

Last year 18 ODS employees participated in the BTA’s Bike Commute Challenge and rode a combined 2,887 miles. Read More
